Raising chickens is not only a great way to relax and get back to nature, I think the eggs are much healthier than the ones in stores. I feel sorry for folks who can't raise backyard chickens because of silly zoning laws and such.

"Also there should be a 2 term limit for all politician, so that they do their best for the people that elected them, instead of working towards being re-elected and a comfortable position with guaranteed gold plated pensions."

I'm a bit confused. Why should people be penalized for performing their jobs well. (This assumes that the reason people get re-elected is because a discerning public feels the incumbent has been doing a good job and they want them continue doing so. Unless, of course, the voting public isn't discerning, and, as in the case of trends in Hamilton, some 60% cast their ballots according to 'name recognition'. And if this is the case, then don't we need better voters, rather than better candidates?) I don't know of another place in Life where someone doing a job well means they're limited in how long they can perform it. (Can you imagine sports legends being treated this way? "Sorry, you've played ten years, time to retire..."

The focus on term limits makes no sense to me, especially given how apathetic our voters are. It seems a continuation of the cynicism and frustration that many feel...mostly because so many have taken a hands-off attitude towards local governance.

*sigh*

Those who leave their position to run for another position should be responsible for the cost incurred for a by-election. They can go to the party that recruited them, but that is their business. Also there should be a 2 term limit for all politician, so that they do their best for the people that elected them, instead of working towards being re-elected and a comfortable position with guaranteed gold plated pensions.

No Councillor should be able to run for multiple positions.
If you leave your post and are not successful in your higher aspirations. Step aside, yes I"m talking about Mr. Clark.

The Candidate, or the political party the candidate is running for should absorb the cost to replace an elected official whose term of office is not expired, when they seek to run as a representative for higher office.

As with any company or individual that are subject to remedies under contract law, in the case of breach of contract, so should it be for councillors that willingly vacate there position .

They should also be forced to resign there seat on council and not be able to run in the bi electon if they loose in there attempt to be elected in provincial or federal election.
